Meyer 6th Overall at IMC, Thomas strong at Age-group Worlds
October '07
Serge Meyer of Bern Switzerland
6th Place Professional at Ironman Canada
Serge has been an M2 athlete since December of 2006. In chilly Switzerland, Serge practices the same indoor workouts that we practice at M2, and when the weather clears he uses a powermeter on the road to better define and execute training sessions.
Though Serge handicapped himself severely in the swim, he posted the 2nd fastest bike split (4hr48min) and set a personal best by 7min in the run, completing the hilly IMC marathon route in 2hr59min, and posting an overall time of 8hr56min.Interesting also that Serge's fastes 10k was the final 10k - very difficult to do this when running at sub 3hr pace in an IM. Rote ideas on training would suggest that the only way to do this would be to amass huge training miles...
The takeaway item for most folks who are hard-pressed to fit in the "necessary" training is that Serge trained less hours in 2006 but improved both his bike and run at the Ironman distance - not so easy to do at his elite level.
Jesse Thomas of Oregon raced to an impressive 6th place overall at the Age-Group World Championships in Hamburg Germany. Like Serge, Jesse had to play catch-up after the swim, yet a strong 4th overall bike split, and fastest run in the field show that Jesse has strong potential. Jesse uses a Powertap to execute many of the same workout concepts that we practice at M2 Revolution.

Minnie Lee, of the Bay Area, completed her first Ironman last month at Canada. “Super Minnie” traveled a long road of ever increasing fitness to achieve her goal of remaining composed and completing an IM – no small feat.
Like so many first-timers and who do not come from an endurance background, Minnie might have been a bit panicked a year ago at what she had gotten herself into, yet her training allowed her to race with both a smile and determination, even running the second half of the marathon faster than the first.
Minnie’s training consisted of twice weekly sessions at M2 Revolution, weekly treadmill sessions, and using a Powertap on the roads to better monitor her training.
